John Mitchell
John Mitchell is the Head of the Sills & Betteridge Family Mediation
Service. John is a graduate of Oxford University and
initially qualified as a Barrister, practising in Nottingham,
before moving to Sills & Betteridge in 1981. He became
a partner in the firm in 1985. John is the firm's Managing
Partner.
John served as a Deputy District Judge between 1993
and 1996. He is the Lincolnshire Chair of the Solicitors
Law Association. Until 1999 he was Chair of the Lincolnshire
Children's Forum (a group composed of Guardians ad Litem
and lawyers specialising in the representation of children).
He also presently chairs "Mediation Lincs", a body made
up of local family lawyer mediators. He is also a member
of the Legal Services Area Committee which deals with
appeals against the refusal of Public Funding, and is
a member of the Lincoln Family Court Business Committee
and Lincoln Family Court Forum.
John is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and
in 1997 qualified as a family lawyer mediator. In 1999
he became a Mediator Practice Consultant which means
that he supervises mediators in other practices. At
Sills & Betteridge he has conduct of a number of family
cases but most of his time is divided between representing
children in care proceedings on the instructions of
their children's Guardians and providing mediation to
couples whose relationship is in the process of breaking
down. |

Rachel Maclean
Rachel Maclean is a partner and head of our Family Department, dealing with divorce and Private
Law family disputes. A graduate of Leicester University,
Rachel joined the firm in 1994 as a trainee solicitor
and became a partner in 2002. Rachel specialises in
cases in all areas of divorce, children's proceedings
and financial provision.
Rachel is an experienced member of the Law Society's
Children Panel. Rachel is also a member of Resolution,
formerly known as the Solicitors' Family Law Association
(SFLA). |

Yvonne Clarke
Yvonne is a partner and is based at Coningsby. A graduate of Liverpool university she joined Thimblebys in 1991 as a trainee solicitor became partner in 1995 and senior partner of Thimblebys in 2006. Yvonne specialises in cases relating to divorce, relationship breakdown,children and care proceedings.
Yvonne became a member of the Law Society Children's Panel in 1998 and has vast experience of representing children and parents in care proceedings. Yvonne is also a member of Resolution (formerly known as the SFLA).

Helen Derry
Helen is a partner in the firm and joined us in 1992 as a trainee solicitor.
Helen has wide experience in all aspects of family law
including divorce, financial provision and has a particular
interest in cases involving business assets. Helen is
also a trained mediator.
Helen is a member of Resolution, formerly known as the
Solicitors' Family Law Association (SFLA). |

Caroline Johnson
Caroline is a partner in the firm and is accredited as a specialist by Resolution,
formerly the Solicitors' Family Law Association (SFLA).
She is committed to encouraging a non-confrontational approach
to resolving family disputes so that both the emotional
and financial costs of divorce or family breakdown are
minimised for those involved. |

Maureen Hayes
Originally from Hampshire, Mo joined the firm as a Trainee
Solicitor in 2001 having read European Legal Studies
at the University of Bristol and University of Aarhus
in Denmark. Mo is an Associate Solicitor with practice in all areas of Family Law including Private and Public Law Children Act Proceedings. Mo is a member of the Law Society's Children Panel with authority to represent children in care proceedings on the instructions of their children's Guardians. Mo is also a member of Resolution, formerly known as the Solicitors' Family Law Association (SFLA) and the Association of Lawyers for Children. |

Emma Lawler
Emma graduated in 2000 from Nottingham Trent University
and completed the LPC in 2002 at Nottingham Law School.
Emma joined the firm in 2002 working as a claims handler
before starting her training contract in April 2003.
She qualified as a solicitor in January 2005 and specialises
in matrimonial work, including domestic violence. |

Debbie Gregory
Debbie is a paralegal in the Family Department. She
joined the firm in 1996 as secretary and became a paralegal
in the Children Team in 2002. Debbie deals with Public
and Private Law children matters. |

Karen James
Karen is Rachel Maclean's Personal Assistant. She assists
Rachel with her clients and cases. She joined the firm
in April 2001 as part of the Children Team and moved
to the Matrimonial Team in June 2003. Karen deals with
divorce, separation and children's cases. |

Alex Treverton
Alex is a paralegal in the Family Department. She joined
the firm in 1999 as a secretary and became a paralegal
for the Divorce Team in June 2004, assisting with matrimonial
matters. |

Helen
is a Paralegal working in the Family department. She joined the firm in January 2005 as a secretary for Yvonne Clarke and became a paralegal in June 2006. She assists in the department with all aspects of family law, Helen is currently undertaking her ILEX Legal Executive qualification |
