Concerns Over Possible Audiology Testing Errors at Grimsby and Scunthorpe Hospitals

Clinical Negligence lawyers at Sills & Betteridge LLP have recently learned of concerns raised in relation to care provided to children and young people by the Audiology Departments at Grimsby and Scunthorpe Hospitals which are both managed by the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

We understand officials have launched an urgent review into possible testing errors after children and young people were wrongly or incorrectly given the all clear. .

Given the level of investigation undertaken by officials, we are concerned that this has not been an isolated incident and there may be many children and young people who may have received substandard care whilst under the care of the audiology departments at both Hospitals.

Hospitals are under a statutory duty to be open and honest with patients and their families when something has gone wrong. This includes where medical care may have caused or contributed to unnecessary injury or exposed them to possible significant harm in the future. This is called the Duty of Candour.

If you or anyone in your family may have been affected or you are concerned about treatment received whilst under the care of the Audiology teams at either Grimsby or Scunthorpe Hospital, we urge you to seek advice as soon as possible. We are more than willing to offer informal guidance and advice with a view to you then exploring what options may be available to you.
