Whatever your circumstances, the likelihood is you
will need help at sometime in the preparation of a Will
or in dealing with the affairs of a deceased relative
or friend. If you are starting in life and have a family
you will wish to protect them by making a Will.
If you are more established and have savings, or property or a business you will
wish to make a Will that arranges your affairs in the best way for your family
and from a tax point of view and see whether there is anything you should be
doing in your lifetime that can help your family. When the inevitable happens
you will want help in dealing with the affairs of a deceased relative or friend.
You will find at Sills & Betteridge a dedicated team with many years of experience
able to assist you with sympathy and understanding and in complete confidence.
Partners in the firm are members of The Society
of Trust and Estate Practitioners. In appropriate cases home visits can be
arranged.
You can be confident that you can rely on our experienced team to help you in
the preparation of your Will to advise you on the tax
planning aspects of your estate and to assist you in the establishment of
any lifetime trusts/settlements/charities that may
suit your circumstances.
You can turn with complete assurance to us at the difficult time when you are
bereaved in the knowledge that we shall be able to guide you through and assist
you in obtaining probate and the administration of estate.
If you or someone in your family is over pensionable age, they will have special
needs from a legal point of view that we at Sills & Betteridge are well able
to help with. If you or a member of your family is unable to manage their affairs
we can advise and if necessary assist in such management acting, for example,
for an Attorney under an Enduring Power of Attorney. You
will be helped to find the most cost-effective way to manage affairs in such
circumstances. If incapacity should arise in circumstances making an application
to the Court of Protection necessary we can deal with that on your behalf. The
benefits available to the older person and the sorts of care available grow ever
more complex. You can rely on our experienced team to help you through the complexities
and advise and assist.
The onset of incapacity for you or a family member can cause much trouble and
expense. Such incapacity can arise not only from old age but from sudden illness
or accident. Everyone should make an Enduring Power of Attorney to
save much trouble and expense that would arise on incapacity. You can rely on
us to advise you about this and prepare the necessary Enduring Power of Attorney.
You may be concerned about the medical treatment you may receive should you suffer
serious incapacity. A new area of law has developed over recent years. You can
be assisted to make a direction known as a 'living will' recording
your wishes in such circumstances.
