The role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Scunthorpe branch of Sills & Betteridge for a confident and capable individual to join the firm as an Apprentice Receptionist/ Office Assistant. The role will include working on reception and assisting with administration for the branch.

All applicants must have Maths and English GCSE’s at grade A-C or levels 4-9. We are looking for a hardworking individual who is confident and enthusiastic with strong communication skills both written and verbal. No previous experience is necessary for this role as full training will be provided but a mature, can-do attitude is essential.

Duties

The role will include but is not limited to:

  • receiving and effectively dealing with calls for all branches;
  • greeting all visitors in a professional and efficient manner;
  • managing meeting room bookings using Outlook;
  • dealing with incoming, outgoing post and Document Exchange;
  • photocopying for all departments, scanning, filing;
  • presenting a professional image, both in person and over the phone;
  • keeping the office organised and tidy; and
  • maintaining a high level of confidentiality at all times.

Duties

The role will include:

  • Operating the firm’s accounting system under the day to day supervision of the Accounts Manager and ensuring that the accounts of the firm are kept up to date;
  • Assisting the accounts manager with month end and year end routines when required;
  • Carrying out daily client and office bank reconciliations as required;
  • To assist the firm with their accounting queries;

We are looking for people who are ideally educated to degree level and it is essential that applicants have had at least 6 months practical experience of working within family law. We are looking for a hardworking individual who is confident, driven, bright and enthusiastic with very strong communication skills.

Duties

The role will include:

  • assisting and supporting the family fee earner on a range of family matters to include public law, children and domestic violence cases;
  • undertaking basic divorces and assisting the fee earner on financial matters including preparing schedules of assets/liabilities, chronologies, bundles etc;
  • assisting with casework;
  • meeting with clients;
  • taking instructions and preparing cases;
  • dealing with correspondence; and
  • assisting with billing and attending court as well as various administrative tasks.
