Stephen is the firm’s Senior Partner and has spent his entire legal career with the firm, joining as an articled clerk in 1979 and qualifying as a solicitor in 1981.
He became a Partner in 1985 and, during his time at the firm, it has grown from being a small single office firm in Lincoln to the large, successful multi-office firm which exists today.
Stephen has specialised in litigation, particularly personal injury and medical negligence for over 25 years many of which he was Head of the Personal Injury department before moving into the role of Executive Head of Claims in 2018.
Stephen is accredited as a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. He was formerly a Deputy District Judge for 8 years and is a past President of the Lincolnshire Law Society.
With over 30 years expertise in litigation, Stephen is skilled in pursuing high value and complex claims to a successful conclusion. He acts for clients on all types of complex accident claims including accidents at work, accidents on private premises and in public places, road traffic accidents, sports accidents, assault and abuse claims as well as fatal accidents and medical negligence claims. Stephen also acts for clients who have professional negligence claims.
He has secured substantial compensation settlements including a recent payment of £1.4 million pounds for a client with devastating injuries following a horse-riding accident which was subject to a contested High Court trial on the issue of liability, and £1 million pounds on a fatal road traffic accident claim involving complex issues regarding the treatment of pension income in the calculation of damages for the deceased’s dependants. In the past 12 months Stephen has secured settlements for clients with a cumulative value of over £3 million.
