Leanne is a Partner in our Family department.
She joined Sills & Betteridge in January 2023 following the merger with Acclaimed Family Law and is based at the Sheffield office.
Leanne Barton joined the firm in July 2017, having built up a reputation at other well established firms in the area and having previously worked with Michelle Cooper who was head of the family department at another firm in Sheffield. Leanne has over 10 years experience in family law and has extensive expertise in areas of divorce, domestic violence, children issues and co-habitational disputes.
Leanne has previously successfully appealed a children case in the Court of Appeal. The case in itself was a ground breaking one, as Leanne represented a sister who wished to have contact with her two younger half siblings against the wishes of a parent.
As a member of Resolution (previously The Solicitors Family Law group), Leanne is committed to approaching a case in a non- confrontational manner whenever possible. Leanne has two children herself and understands that family life is the most important thing to most people and when something goes wrong it can be devastating. Many clients have remarked on Leanne’s ability to guide her clients through the legal process with understanding and compassion but at the same time she is prepared to fight her corner for her clients when necessary.
